Put On Your Own Oxygen Mask (Before Helping the Person Next to You)



Upon boarding a flight, you will hear the flight attendant say, “Put on your own oxygen mask before helping the person next to you.”


As a therapist, mother, and wife this speaks very loudly to me. It is critical that invest in our own mental health, so we are able to be fully present support those around us.


Putting on your own oxygen mask may look like:  journal writing, yoga, gardening, intentional breathing exercises, painting, hiking, or spending time with a friend.
